Description An account of the resource Transcript: SUPPORT THE STRIKERS OF AUSTIN Local 456 of the Upholsterer's International Union. membership of which is 90% Chicano, have been on strike against Economy Furniture of Austin, Texas since November 27, 1968. The union was formed to combat injustices and unfair labor practices on the part of said manufacturer. The union was certified by the National Labor Relations Board as the exclusive bargaining agent for all employees but the company has refused to bargain in good faith. For almost two yeras now the strikers have fought and suffered in an effort to get the company to bargain in good faith while the legal fight continues in the Federal Courts. Every single day since November 27, 1968, the strikers have picketed the entrance to the plant in Austin, Texas. Whether in 100 degree heat or in subfreezing weather, the strikers have been there. The strikers need your help. The following listed chain stores throughout Texas sell scab furniture made at Economy Furniture. Please do not buy at these stores: 1. Montgomery Ward 2. Lack's 3.
