We feel that Colores y Visiones is an important educational tool for young Hispanics across the nation. No group is better suited for the project than Sueño Productions, a multi-cultural production company whose goal is to produce short films concerning social issues of importance today. Mexican American teenagers setting of hostage activists and politicos In 1969 a group of Mexican-American teens became heroes in the unlikely setting of a City. They held the educational system hostage and demanded the attention of activists and po from all over the state. They had simply demanded the right to speak Spanish, the right to compete in popularity contests, and ultimately, the right to be treated as well as their Anglo counterparts. Their battle cry punctuated the civil rights movement of the late sixties. This December, a Raza Unida Party reunion will bring together these activists, educators, and community leaders. The film, Colores y Visiones will document the diverse personalities which made up the "movimiento." It will record the interaction between people who once stood together as an ideological whole and whom time and circumstance have now separated. The goal of Colores y Visiones is not only to remember our recent history, but also to forge a political future for Chicanos all over the U.S. This is an opportunity for all Chicanos to discuss and redefine our place in the community.
