The first part is various black poets reciting their poetry to a melody of drums. These poems are about the black condition and the struggles within the community, especially in America. The second part of this tape are two speeches made by Marcus Garvey. Garvey was a political activist and first President of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League. He was also an advocate for black people to repatriate Africa. These speeches were political activism speeches aimed at empowering black culture and for advancing his doctrine of returning to Africa.
