<text>This collection brings together materials documenting how community groups across Austin responded to urban planning, zoning, and development in the mid- to late twentieth century. Drawing on records from the Austin History Center, the collection includes zoning and land-use maps, neighborhood association materials from the South River City Citizens (SRCC), publications produced by East Town Lake Citizens, and materials related to environmental advocacy efforts associated with figures such as Wayne Gronquist and Betty Brown. These sources show how planning decisions shaped neighborhoods through zoning classifications, redevelopment efforts, and environmental concerns, while also capturing how residents and advocacy groups interpreted and responded to those changes. Materials in this collection document community concerns over development, displacement, and environmental preservation, and show how residents organized through meetings, mapping, public outreach, and coalition-building to influence city planning processes. Together, these items illustrate how communities were not only defined by planning policies but were actively constructed and negotiated through collective action across different groups. </text>
