First issue of the United Kingdom edition of Mirabella magazine, founded by Grace Mirabella, following her dismissal as editor-in-chief of Vogue in 1988. Cover reads "Glamour Wises Up" with cover lines including "No Tricks Nineties Dressing," "Female Gangs: Business Battles and Lipstick tips," and profiles of Jean-Luc Godard, Elisabeth Frink, and others. Priced at £2.20 with an introductory offer of £1. The magazine was aimed at sophisticated women in their 30s and 40s and represented Mirabella's vision of fashion journalism, grounded in real women's lives rather than fantasy or unrealistic aspiration.
