This edition of The Daily Texan, the student publication of the University of Texas at Austin, features events of campus protests and disciplinary measures against student activists during April 1967. The story on the front page covers the demonstration and arrest and the subsequent disciplinary action against members of the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). Alice Embree, a member of the group, received disciplinary action following an unauthorized speech about the war.

The story frames the conflict between student activists and university officials against the backdrop of the Vietnam War period. The students were protesting against the university’s policies and the United States' participation in Vietnam.
