Description
Pictures of troupe members and records from La Companía Dramática Hernández-Villalongín, also known as La Companía Cómico Dramática Carlos Villalongín (Carlos Villalongín Dramatic Company).
La Compañía Hernández-Villalongín was a traveling theatre troupe around the turn of 20th century. It was founded in 1848 by Encarnación Hernández. The company toured North Mexico and Texas over a period of 70 years (1848-1924). The company underwent multiple name changes when leadership changed, but Carlos Villalongín was a leading actor in the troupe for many years and the final company head. The company was comprised primarily of two families-the Hernández and Villalongín families, but employed additional outside actors as well.
