University Legacy
In 2007, the University opened Almetris Duren Residence Hall directly next to the former co-ops on Whitis Avenue. This hall, to date the newest on UT's campus, was named to honor the life and contributions Duren. A portrait of Duren hangs proudly in the lobby of the residence hall. Scattered throughout its hallways are various commemorative items to honor Duren, from quotes emblazoned on the walls to a bronze bust in a study lounge.
This resolution of the Texas House of Representatives, honoring the life and contributions of Almetris Duren, is displayed inside of the residence hall bearing her name. Alongside this resolution are further documents, from proclomations by the Governor of Texas to statements made by the Detroit City Council.
Pictured here is the bronze bust of Almetris Duren located just outside of the lobby of Duren hall, in a grand study space. On the walls of this room, further quotes can be found. Walking futher, plaques bearing Duren's life story are placed so that the residents of the building can learn more about their dorms namesake, as well as her vital contributions for access at UT.
Dorothy Gebauer, with an academic building named in her honor, is pictured here. This portrait hangs in Gebauer Hall. Gebauer Hall is home to UT's College of Liberal Arts. Within this building is the Dean's Office, academic advisors, and resources that can be utilized by any liberal arts student.
Blues Legacy
Since opening its doors at its 6th & Brazos location in 1975, Antone's has moved to 6 seperate locations around the Austin Downtown; constantly running besides a brief hiatus beginning in 2013 following economic hardships after the death of Clifford Antone in 2006. The current location resides 305 E. 5th Street.
