Internee Correspondence Selections #4: A Letter to the Officer in Charge of Crystal City

Japanese internment during World War II; Struggles after release; Request for reference

The following is a letter to James O'Rourke written by Ryuchi Fujii, requesting that he provide a reference to the University of Southern California so that his thesis for his Ph.D. can be evaluated by the university committee. He talks about how he must prepare for the future and asks O'Rourke for his aid during "the most arduous time of [his] life."
