A selection of maps from the South River City Citizens Records, drawn from the 1970 map files, including a proposed zoning map identifying residential classifications such as “A,” “B,” and “C” districts, and a City of Austin Planning and Growth Management Department land use map labeled “Sector 12” (June 1980) showing categories such as single-family (SF), duplex, and commercial use. The selection also includes annotated neighborhood maps produced and used by the South River City Citizens (SRCC), including a map labeled “Area 5” with a corresponding legend identifying land uses such as transportation, utilities, and multi-family housing, as well as a parcel-level map labeled “Area 6” and “Area 7.” These materials document how official zoning and land-use frameworks structured the neighborhood, while also showing how SRCC created its own internal geographic divisions for coordination and advocacy, reflecting a localized interpretation of space in Austin.
