"Écrit en français, pas en anglais. En broché. Text in French, not in English. Paperback. First edition, first printing of the French language edition. Originally published in English in 1923 by Knopf; the first publication in French was in 1926 by Éditions du Sagittaire. This is copy no. 401 from a total edition of 750; the first 25 numbered copies were printed on Japan paper and the remaining copies on vélin de Rives. Printed in 1926 at the presses of the Imprimerie Sainte-Catherine at Bruges, Belgium. Approx. size 6.5 x 4.5 inches. [15.5 x 11.5 cm.] A paperback with beige matte wrappers, with fairly crisp red- and black-stamped lettering and design to front wrapper, and with faded black lettering to the spine. Wrappers are uniformly age-toned to a light brown. In dark ink at the top of the front wrapper is written "Paris" and also with a few small scribbles. With 122 numbered pages. First FEP with "Paris 1926" neatly printed in dark blue ink at the top; else a clean interior. Frontispiece reproduces a fragment from the author's manuscript for the book. Page 1 with B&W headpiece and page 122 with B&W tailpiece. The colophon page with details regarding the book's printing. A Good to Good Minus copy. Scarce in any condition. 5 oz. Coll.
