Headline from the Daily Texan of August 09, 1989.

Students are the heartbeat of any institution. Through the exchange of new ideas, expanding horizons, and even changing the sociocultural landscape of institutions, students on the Forty Acres have long committed themselves to excellence. Much of the change that has been realized at UT Austin was in part due to the activism and leadership of students who were willing to take a stand. As a result, they have contributed to bridging gaps for themselves and their fellow longhorns.  Guided by the slogan, what starts here changes the world, the heritage of student activism, upstanding, and change at UT Austin suggests that the best place to start changing the world is right where one is.
